Hmmmmm.... well, the last three years haven't exactly been a hive of activity in my blogosphere. However, I've decided to start actually making an effort. Not entirely sure why but definitely partly to give me a forum to have a good moan about some things.
So, let's get right down to it. The Twang. I went to see them on Friday night at the Brixton Academy. I'm not a massive fan of the band but I like the guitar style (something reminds me of The Blue Aeroplanes actaully) and a friend had a spare ticket. Anyway, the band seemed up for it but... well, the sound was absolutely awful.
I've been to the Academy quite a bit. It's my favourite venue of that size in London. You can always see reasonably and the sound is always pretty good - even at the back where the bass rolls around a little under the balcony. But this was just a dreadful, muddy, cluttered mess. Couldn't hear any of the words or the detail of the guitar at all on some tracks.
I know it's live and it's not supposed to be clinical, and I don't want it to be. But there was something wrong there. All I can think of is that they're just not used to playing in a venue that size. Dunno.
Anyway, there were also a fair number of idiots in the audience throwing above the usual amount of lager all over the place (given that we weren't anywhere near the front) and I couldn't really make out anything other than the chorus of a couple of the better known tracks so I left before the end. I wasn't by any means the only person going either.
Ah well, at least I got out in time to get to the pub.

today I ran home in order to make a phone call. i realised that it's been quite a while since I ran. anywhere.
i felt younger. not physically; mentally. i remembered when it was okay to run to places and not look like a twat. funny really. all I do is miss more things.
actually it also hurt my back.
